the Performance Group History
1997 Company is founded by Pete Maccarrone, Jim Swanberg and Drew Trujillo as an independent, full service sales agency headquartered in Southern California.
1997 The Performance Group joins the National Association of Food Brokers.
1998 Larry Mastro and Stacy Grant join the Performance Group providing the nucleus for both a Dairy Division and GM/HBC Division.
1999 The Action Broker Network invites the Performance Group to join their organization as the “independent broker of choice” in the Southern California Market.
2000 Bob Camarra joins the Performance Group further expanding the company’s presence in the Dry Grocery category (Branded and Private Label).
2001 Elaine Thompson and Bob Sherrick join the Performance Group and add an immediate presence within the Frozen Food category.
The Performance Group transitions to the A.S.M.C., with Pete Maccarrone named to the A.S.M.C. Independents’ Board of Directors.
2002 The company expands its geography with the opening of the Performance Group Northern California in conjunction with Tony Metz, Phil Costello and Steve Martinez.
TSG-Performance is founded as part of TSG-USA, LLC.
2003 Dave Grosse joins the Performance Group as the General Manager of Grocery.
2004 Promoted Debbie Messick to Business Manager in the General Merchandise Department.
The Performance Group joins the newly formed, “Independent Food Brokers of America”, Pete Maccarrone is on the Governing Board.
2005
The Performance Group creates their own “Independent Group” to cover the independent stores and distributors in Southern California.
2006
Founding Partner Pete Maccarrone passed away on February 5.
